Oh! Those Dreaded Eye Bags! How to Lose Your Under-Eye Carry-Ons
Published: (February, 2025)

1. Oh! Those Dreaded Eye Bags!
Among all the signs of aging, the ones under the eyes often appear first. A morning glance in the mirror—even in your late twenties—can send terror up your spine.
Aging? Me? Already?
For many in their thirties and beyond, this is what they see when they first wake up and look in the mirror.
If this is you, don’t panic: that puffiness under the eyes, called eye bags, tends to come and go.
1991…We were immigrating to America, flying from Moldova to the USA. A long, sleepless night, tons of anxiety. I looked in the lavatory mirror and flipped: I had under my eyes, not just bags, but a full set of carry-on luggage! I was just 33. My old age, I thought, had come.
Just four years later, age 37, I discovered the power of raw foods. Health-wise, and appearance-wise, things took a sharp turn for the better. Then came my beauty creams and other products. As a result, for thirty years those eye bags never really bothered me. I’m convinced that, with some preventative measures, you can keep them away for years, even decades. (We'll not discuss hereditary factors here.)

The Science Behind Under-Eye Aging: Hollowing vs. Puffiness
The area under the eye undergoes two distinct aging processes. One is the hollow-eyed appearance caused by the loss of the underlying tissue padding. The other, more noticeable—if not more prevalent—is the infamous “luggage” look. Let us discuss the latter process further.
Recent research indicates that the appearance of under-eye bags can be attributed to two key processes: fat displacement (or herniation) and fat expansion within the eye socket. Here’s how they differ...
Fat Expansion vs. Fat Displacement
Fat expansion refers to the fat increasing in size, while fat displacement refers to fat moving out of its usual place. In many cases, people experience a combination of both, especially with aging.
Fat Expansion
It’s believed that factors such as chronic inflammation, fluid retention, or metabolic changes can stimulate fat cells to grow or accumulate more lipids. An actual increase in the volume of the orbital fat itself leads to an expanded, puffy appearance. The best way to address this issue is to upgrade your diet, eliminate processed in any way foods completely, and drink a daily glass of green juice (celery juice is the easiest option). More in Puffy Face: Causes and Solutions.
Fat Displacement
Fat displacement occurs when the orbital fat that normally cushions the eyeball starts to protrude forward due to the weakening of the orbital septum (a thin membrane that holds the fat in place). This forward movement of fat creates a bulging effect. Factors such as the loss of skin elasticity, thinning skin, and gravity contribute to this displacement. The best way to address this issue is a dedicated skincare routine for your under-eye area. More in Under-Eye Skincare.

2. MicroStamping for Youthful, Bag-Free Eyes
I've just turned 67!
Now, as you already know, I’m taking dance lessons. Some might think it’s a very late start. I like to think of it as a fresh beginning.
Finally, I can do what I’ve ached (often quite literally) to do all these years! At last, that phrase 'having fun' started to have a real meaning for me.
But with all these new moves, I’m feeling muscles I never knew I had. At night, after a good workout, those muscles start complaining. Recently I’ve begun tossing in bed, so I end up sleeping on my side more often than I’d like.
If you’ve followed my work and learned from your own experience, you know that sleeping on your side creates eye bags (among other effects). I had to do something—fast.

What I found was: MicroStamping for your under-eye area, holding it for a longer time—up to 30-50 seconds. Many of you already have this little square called the RejuvaPad. Are you using it regularly? My guess is that, for many, the answer is: no.
But you should. Here’s how. Stamp the whole under-eye area. Each time, hold the pad firmly against your skin for 10 to 50 seconds. Start with 10 and every few days add another 5 or 10 seconds. Be sure to cover your entire under-eye area.
This is a great way to deal with fat displacement by strengthening and firming the under-eye area. You'll need to be patient and consistent, but eventually, this MiscroStamping will make a visible difference and stop feeling very uncomfortable.
Don't worry about the tiny indentations left by the RejuavaPad's small pins. These indentations trigger your body's natural healing response, as if the area has experienced a minor scrape. This process helps accelerate healing and rejuvenation. Improved circulation quickly smooths out the indentations within minutes, especially when you apply our Bamboo Charcoal Under-Eye Patches afterward.

We need to find a way to push the bags in. That is when these come in handy.
The under-eye area gets treated with active ingredients, and at the same time, the bags get tucked. More information in Bamboo Charcoal Under-Eye Patches for Puffy Eyes, Eye Bags and Dark Circles.
It comes down to this: The longer the fat stays in and the stronger the surrounding tissues remain, the better.
In addition, you can apply advanced bioactive ingredients that help increase the density and thickness of skin-supporting fibers in the under-eye area. Scientific advancements have led to the development of highly effective peptide complexes that target these concerns at a cellular level.
