The Coronavirus: How Can You Protect Yourself?

The corona virus scare is spreading across the world. Dozens of countries are affected. Governments take more drastic measures every day. What can you do?

When doctors, medicines, and governments can’t help, your immune system can and will. Even during history’s worst epidemics—cholera, bubonic plague, smallpox, and influenza—mostly it’s been people with weakened immune systems who’ve succumbed to the disease. Here is what you can do to give your immune system a serious boost…

1. Breathe…for Real!

Since the Coronavirus affects your respiratory system, I can’t emphasize strongly enough how important it is that you start doing breathing exercises twice a day.

If you have my book Quantum Eating, perform the exercises as I describe there. Or use the Wim Hoff method. I am sure you’ve heard about the Ice Man. Follow his method if you wish:

Sit comfortably in a safe place. Take 30 deep breaths, inhaling through your nose, exhaling through your mouth. Then, take a deep breath and exhale. Hold until you need to breathe in. Inhale again, as deep as you can, and hold it for 10 seconds. Practice this 3 times every morning and every evening. I follow this breathing method, but with one difference. I do 30 breaths in and out, but slowly—not nearly as fast as many videos on YouTube demonstrate.

Your lungs are not muscles. They can’t inhale or exhale on their own. They’re totally dependent on the diaphragm, a huge muscle that works like a bellows. The lungs’ task is to extract oxygen from a drawn breath and disperse it into the bloodstream. By performing breathing exercises once daily—better: twice—you are exercising your diaphragm. This in turn trains your lungs to be more efficient at receiving energy and distributing nutrition.

When you hold your breath as you exhale, it raises carbon dioxide levels in the body and brain. It also increases nitrogen levels. Oxygen gets delivered more efficiently to the body immediately after holding the breath.

The Coronavirus goes into the body through the respiratory system. Keepiing your respiratory system healthy should be your first line of defense.

2. Take a Cold Shower!

The Coronavirus mainly affects people with weak immune systems. So, give your system a boost with a cold shower!

Scientific studies show that a cold shower boosts the number of white blood cells in your body—the very blood cells that protect you against disease. This process, scientists think, relates to an increased metabolic rate, which triggers the body’s immune response.

In fact, take a cold shower every morning. This will do several things. Wake you up. Greatly increase your sense of wellbeing. Improve your circulation. Alternating warm and cold stimuli constrict and dilate your blood vessels, which strengthens your immune system. Studies also show cold water reduces pain in sore muscles and supports recovery after vigorous physical activity.

An article published in the journal PLoS One found that people taking cold showers are 29% less likely to be absent from work or school due to illness. The study involved some three thousand people who took hot showers, then applied cold water for 30 to 90 seconds.

This cold therapy triggers the body’s “fight or flight” response. As a result, the cardio-respiratory system ramps up, motivating the immune system to do likewise. It does so by producing more infection-fighting cells. You need these while the virus is a threat!

Here is how I do tempering with cold. I take a warm shower for several minutes, then turn the knob to cold. I then stay under the cold shower for 30 seconds. Tip: Don’t make the water too cold at first. Adapt gradually.

3. Greens to the Rescue

Make freshly squeezed green juice or green smoothie every day. Any veggie-based green juice contains many nutrients specifically aimed at strengthening your immune system. Green vegetables help your body maintain a proper pH level. They’re packed with a long list of vitamins and minerals, including…

vitamin A (immune function)
vitamin B6 (disease-fighting cell production)
vitamin C (boosts immunity)
vitamin K (immune response)
and folate (immune response).

You’ll also benefit from antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that improve your immune system and help your body fight infections.

I hope you enjoy a green juice every day, as I’ve been recommending for twenty years. Currently, have it twice a day, as I do. Give it to your loved ones, as well. It will strengthen your immune system against coronavirus or any other disease.

4. Intermittent Fasting

Right now is an ideal time to incorporate Intermittent fasting. My Quantum Eating program incorporates my version of intermittent fasting.

I can’t say enough about the power of this practice in resetting your immune system. How does it work? It depletes the body of some of its energy reserves, lowering the white blood cell count. This triggers the immune system into regenerating new cells.

Scientific studies have shown that fasting intermittently reduces inflammation levels and aids in autophagy—a self-cleaning function of cells during which disease-causing damaged cells are shed through adjusting the body’s metabolism.

It’s as simple as this…Just do all your eating within 8 hours and fast during the remaining 16 hours. Yes, you can do it! I’ve been living like this since 2006. And now, I can’t imagine eating any other way.

I describe my experience in my book Quantum Eating. This practice has given me protection from the flu and colds. What’s more, it’s brought me fabulous anti-aging benefits.

The best way to protect yourself against viruses is by strengthening your immune system. Make sure the cells responsible for destroying those viruses are numerous, alive, active.

With the global panic surrounding COVID-19 and the flu, there’s no time like the present to consider incorporating one—or all—of these immunity-boosting practices into your routine. They’ll help protect you now, and they’ll have positive, long-lasting effects on your health and longevity.

5. Don't Panic!

Fear is our most basic instinct—a key to survival. Fear saves us, but it can also prey on us, stealing the very life it seeks to protect. Think about the current situation—the endlessly talked-about Coronavirus. Panic. Paranoia. It makes one wonder about self-fulfilling prophecy.

Believe you’re surrounded by virus… and it will become your reality. When we concentrate on what is toxic, we ready ourselves to receive it. Instead, let’s focus on health, maintaining a positive attitude. That way, you’re actively helping your body to deal with its environment and to cleanse itself.

If you are on my list, it means you have already have been taking some measures for improving your health. So your immune system is capable to protect you from this virus and many others.

You fear it any way. So, what now? Take a deep breath and hold your breath as long as you can. Repeat it several times. It will calm you down right away.

I’m asked about the safety of our product shipments. First, the Coronavirus doesn’t effectively spread by mail. Indeed, mail is about the safest way there to get the items you need. According to WHO, the World Health Organization, the virus doesn’t last long on objects such as letters or packages.

Second, we take plenty of precautions. We’re family-owned, so our staff is a tiny one. We take meticulous care of our health, so you know we’re conscientious about yours, too.
