Health is the state about which medicine has nothing to say.
— W.H. Auden
I’ve been entirely privileged over the last thirteen years since discovering the raw food lifestyle to have overcome many physical, medical and dental challenges to reach a level of health I never even known was possible. Certainly I’ve had my share of ups and downs and learned many valuable things throughout the course of my journey.
The unconventional route I’ve chosen, despite much opposition, really has turned out to be the best thing for me and my health.
My game is health—not illness. That’s the essence of the remark from Auden I quoted above. Doctors do illness. I do health. I am a raw food speaker, author, researcher and experimenter extraordinaire, not in any way a health professional qualified to dispense medical advice. Giving my readers general direction on how to make the raw food diet work for them and obtain superior health, according to my own experience, is as far as I can go. The rest is up you, the individual, and to the magnificent healing capacities of each individual’s unique, one-of-a-kind body.
My formal education is in mathematics and engineering. My experiences have been unique to me, centering on my own personal health challenges. And my expertise revolves around beauty and anti-aging. I am not qualified—nor even allowed, legally—to give medical advice to anyone regarding medications, illnesses, or the treatment of diseases.
My purpose is simply to show you that experimenting with and listening to your body is often the best approach to health. I do provide information, and do strive for accuracy. But mostly I seek to deliver inspiration. Lord knows I’ve needed inspiration along my journey. And surely you do, too, whether you’ve needed that inspiration to lose weight, to improve your looks, to feel fresher, less tired, to live longer, or just to know you’re getting healthier. It’s good stuff, inspiration. But, like your morning shower, it doesn’t last forever. And like your refrigerator, it needs replenishing. You need inspiration, and you need it all the time.
I have written seven books-Miracle of Raw Foods, Beautiful on Raw, 100 Days to 100% Raw, Quantum Eating, Raw Food and Hot Yoga, Rawsome Flex, and The Raw Food Diet and Your Compromised Teeth. I offer an assortment of blog articles, a website, newsletters, and a variety of other writings. I’ll doubtless continue in my writings to discuss common health challenges that people face, numerous of which I’ve faced myself. Much in my writing relates to how and why a sound raw food diet, combined with hot yoga, can make a tremendous difference in quality of life. I do explain how proper diet and exercise can make a difference regarding some medical diagnoses you might face. But my explanations, please note, are general.
My lifestyle concepts don’t necessarily go along with traditional medicine. Indeed my concepts often contradict or stand outside the paradigms of conventional medicine. I am not trying to present them for shock value, but only as an example of a creative approach to health.
Occasionally, for example, someone might write me asking What should I eat if I have colon cancer? or Should I take large doses of Vitamin D for osteoporosis? I can’t and don’t comment medically. Can’t diagnose. Can’t prescribe. Can’t deliver a prognosis. However, in my books and Blog articles you can find the information about the raw food diet and why some of its attendant lifestyle practices might be helpful to you. It’s up to you to decide what you should incorporate into your life.
When you embark on the raw food diet, you are cleansing your body of toxins and nourishing your body on a cellular level. This brings about many startling and exciting physical changes. Some are internal, others external. When you stop polluting and destroying the body with foods, beverages and practices that cause disease and aging, there’s no telling what symptoms and illnesses your own body, in the process, may eliminate or reverse.
Become your own best researcher. If one thing doesn’t work, try another! Never let anyone, a doctor or otherwise tell you that your particular situation is hopeless. And above all, never give up!
